The Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) has opened a specialized IT laboratory designed to train students in working with Russian system and office software as part of ongoing import substitution efforts.
The laboratory was created with support from RED SOFT, R7, and ICL Techno. The space is equipped with 15 OSiO mini-PCs manufactured by ICL Techno and an equal number of ICL monitors. All machines run the RED OS operating system and the R7 Office suite, both listed in the Russian software registry maintained by the Ministry of Digital Development.
Beyond simple hardware replacement, the laboratory features a fully integrated ecosystem covering IT infrastructure management, virtualization, virtual machine operations, and database work. Students can follow the complete workflow from initial operating system installation to full infrastructure administration and everyday office tasks.
Equipment was supplied by ICL Techno, while software licenses were transferred on a permanent basis together with updates and technical support. A dedicated education specialist from RED SOFT will coordinate with faculty members.
Four training courses on RED OS have been prepared for different skill levels. Successful participants will receive developer certificates, and the most qualified students may be selected for internships at partner companies. Evgeny Dorofeev of RED SOFT noted that candidates will be recruited directly through the program.
The laboratory will be used by students of the Institute of Public Service and Management as well as the Institute of Economics, Mathematics and Information Technologies. Available study areas include digital literacy, data management, artificial intelligence, and information-analytical technologies in municipal governance. RANEPA plans to keep such specialized classrooms operating at a minimum 90 percent capacity.
