CISA Adds BeyondTrust Remote Support and Fortinet Flaws to KEV Catalog Following Zero-Day Exploitation by ARMORY CASTLE

The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has added two vulnerabilities affecting Fortinet and BeyondTrust products to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. CVE-2026-102764 is an authentication bypass flaw in BeyondTrust Remote Support that allows remote attackers to manipulate appliance files without credentials due to insufficient source validation. BeyondTrust released an advisory on October 15, 2026, rating the issue 9.3 on CVSS v4.0 as Critical. Mandiant attributes the zero-day exploitation to the suspected Chinese group ARMORY CASTLE, which deployed web shells for persistence and privilege escalation in late August. The second CVE, CVE-2025-61624, also appears on the KEV list but lacks further public technical details in the current advisory. Organizations are urged to apply patches immediately to prevent further compromise.

US authorities have issued an alert regarding the active exploitation of vulnerabilities in Fortinet and BeyondTrust products. The CISA added CVE-2025-61624 and CVE-2026-102764 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on October 16, 2026.

The vulnerability CVE-2026-102764 affects BeyondTrust Remote Support, a remote support product. It stems from insufficient validation of message sources in internal components, enabling remote attackers to manipulate files on the appliance without authentication.

BeyondTrust published its security advisory BT26-05 on October 15, 2026. The company assigned the flaw a CVSS v4.0 base score of 9.3 and classified it as Critical.

According to Mandiant, the suspected Chinese threat group ARMORY CASTLE leveraged the flaw as a zero-day in late August. Attackers installed web shells on compromised devices to maintain access and escalate privileges.

Security teams should review the official advisories from Fortinet PSIRT and BeyondTrust, apply available patches, and monitor for indicators of compromise associated with ARMORY CASTLE activity.
